Rishikesh is the world's yoga capital, and it is home to hundreds of yoga schools offering teacher training courses of every duration and style. That makes it genuinely difficult to know which school to trust, especially if this is your first time enrolling in a YTTC. We at Om Setu Yogashala want to help you make that decision with clear, checkable facts rather than marketing claims, whether you end up training with us or somewhere else.

There are a handful of factors that matter far more than a glossy website: is the school actually registered with Yoga Alliance, who is teaching your classes and what are their real credentials, how many students are in each batch, and can you verify any of this yourself before you pay a deposit. Below, we walk through each of these, then show exactly how our own 100, 200 and 300-hour programs compare, so you can judge for yourself.

Evaluation Criteria

What Makes a Yoga Teacher Training "the Best"?

Start with accreditation. A genuine Yoga Alliance registered school will give you a real registration number that you can look up yourself on the Yoga Alliance website, not just a badge on the homepage. Next, look at who is actually teaching. Ask for the lead trainer's credential (ours is Bhupendra Nautiyal, E-RYT 500) and check whether the curriculum is delivered by that trainer personally or handed off to rotating junior staff. Batch size matters just as much as the certificate: a course with 30-40 students in one hall cannot give you hands-on alignment correction, while a batch of 6-10 lets every trainee get individual attention every day.

Beyond the classroom, check the fundamentals: is the curriculum a proper mix of asana, pranayama, philosophy, anatomy and teaching methodology, or mostly asana practice with certification tacked on? Are the reviews genuine and traceable to a real Google Business profile, and can you read a range of them rather than three hand-picked quotes? And practically — is the accommodation, food and daily schedule spelled out clearly before you book, with no vague promises about "world-class facilities"? Judge every school you're considering, including us, against these same questions.

Honest Comparison

How We Compare to Other Rishikesh Schools

Om Setu Yogashala is a Yoga Alliance USA registered school (RYS 200, registration #435782), which you can verify yourself on the Yoga Alliance directory rather than take our word for it. Every module — asana, pranayama, philosophy, anatomy and teaching methodology — is taught by our own faculty, led personally by E-RYT 500 trainer Bhupendra Nautiyal, not outsourced to guest teachers who rotate in and out of different schools.

We deliberately cap batches at 6-10 students so every trainee gets hands-on correction, rather than filling a hall to maximise revenue. Our campus is in Tapovan, on the quieter side of the Ganga, with sattvic vegetarian meals from our own kitchen and twin-shared or private rooms included in the course fee. We'd rather you compare us honestly against other schools on these same points than take a "best" label at face value — ours included.

FAQs

FAQs

Honestly no. Someone who just wants to deepen their own practice needs something different than someone who wants a globally recognised teaching certification. Pick by your goal and the hours you need, not by any ranking list.

No. Most of our students arrive as complete beginners. Our 100 and 200-hour courses are both open to first-timers, and teachers adjust every pose for your level.

If you only want to deepen your personal practice, 100-hour is enough. If you want a globally recognised teaching credential, start with 200-hour. If you already hold a 200-hour and want RYT 500, add the 300-hour.

Yes. We are a Yoga Alliance USA registered school (RYS 200, registration #435782), so graduates can register as RYT worldwide after completing their course.

6 to 10 students per batch, so every trainee gets hands-on correction and personal attention from the lead trainer.

Yes. Lead trainer Bhupendra Nautiyal is E-RYT 500, and every faculty member teaching a module is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance.
