OVERVIEW
Ayurveda is the oldest documented medicine system of India — over 3,000 years old. Our Ayurveda retreat in Tapovan, Rishikesh is built around authentic Kerala-style treatments delivered under the supervision of Vaidya Mohit Bhatt (BAMS), our resident Ayurvedic doctor. Every guest begins with a free, in-person consultation — including Nadi Pariksha (pulse diagnosis) and Dosha analysis — before any treatment is prescribed. From there, your retreat becomes a personalised plan of Panchakarma detoxification, Abhyanga oil therapy, Shirodhara, herbal applications, daily yoga, and sattvic Ayurvedic meals. With a maximum of 8 guests at a time and the founder, Anil, hosting personally, your stay is small, attentive and intentional — a real Ayurvedic experience by the Holy Ganga, not a wellness package. We welcome you to harmonise your inner self and enjoy the health benefits of the Ayurveda Retreat at Om Setu Yogashala.
OM Setu Yogashala
When you join our Ayurveda retreat in Rishikesh, your stay begins with a complimentary consultation with Vaidya Mohit Bhatt (BAMS). He examines your pulse (Nadi Pariksha), determines your constitutional balance (Prakriti — Vata, Pitta, Kapha), reviews any current health concerns, and identifies the root cause of imbalance rather than just treating symptoms. From this, your personalised plan is built — combining classical Panchakarma protocols, daily Abhyanga or Shirodhara, herbal medicines where indicated, and supportive yoga & meditation taught by our resident yoga teachers. Pranayama practice is woven through the retreat to support detoxification and nervous-system recovery. The result is a true holistic reset of body, mind and energy — not a spa weekend.
The retreat includes the following activities:
All meals at the retreat are sattvic, freshly cooked, and prescribed according to your dosha by Vaidya Mohit. Heavy, processed and stimulating foods are avoided so that the body can detoxify naturally during Panchakarma. Our kitchen uses local Himalayan vegetables, traditional spice combinations (haldi, jeera, dhania, hing), and herbal teas that complement your treatments. Most guests notice digestion improvements within the first few days — this is the foundation on which the rest of the retreat builds.
Rishikesh is the global home of yoga and traditional Ayurveda. Sitting at the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas where the Ganga emerges from the mountains, the air, water and altitude themselves support healing — something Vaidya Mohit incorporates into the rhythm of treatments. Our retreat is located in Tapovan, the quieter spiritual quarter above the river, surrounded by ashrams, sage caves and forest trails — far from the noise of the bridges and tourist markets. Most importantly, the centuries-old lineage of Ayurvedic doctors and Kerala-trained therapists working in Rishikesh means the treatments here are the real classical protocols, not hotel-spa imitations.
At Om Setu Yogashala we deliberately keep groups small (maximum 8 guests) so that Vaidya Mohit can give every guest his full attention, treatment plans can be genuinely personalised, and the experience stays intimate. Whether you come for a 5-day reset, a 7-day Ayurveda & yoga combination, or a full Panchakarma programme, the same care, the same doctor, and the same authentic Kerala-style therapists are with you the entire time — supported by our retreat host Anil, who lives on-site and is personally available throughout your stay.
Classical Panchakarma — supervised by a BAMS doctor, not a wellness spa
Vaidya Mohit Bhatt (BAMS, 5+ years, 500+ patients) personally performs Nadi Pariksha pulse reading, dosha assessment, and prescribes your treatment plan on day one. No spa therapist guessing — a government-recognised Ayurvedic physician.
Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Swedana, Herbal Potli, Marma — administered in correct sequence per Charaka Samhita. Our therapist Arti is Kerala-trained, and female guests are treated by female practitioners exclusively for full comfort.
Your Vata, Pitta, or Kapha imbalance dictates your menu — not a generic vegetarian buffet. Each plate is cooked with the six tastes (Shadrasa) calibrated by the doctor. Herbal kashayams and teas served between treatments.
Real Panchakarma demands daily monitoring of digestion, sleep, and elimination. We cap each cohort at 6 so Vaidya Mohit can review every guest each morning — impossible at 30-bed Ayurveda hospitals.
Vata gets slow grounding asana, Pitta gets cooling pranayama, Kapha gets stimulating flow. Yoga isn't a generic morning class here — it's part of your prescribed detox protocol. See yoga asanas that support detoxification.
Ancient texts call the Garhwal Himalayas the home of Ayurveda's wild herbs. Treatments use locally-foraged medicinal oils. Private en-suite room, 2 minutes from the Ganga, complete digital silence if you want it.
What Makes Our Ayurveda Retreat Special !
Relaxing Ayurvedic Healing for You

Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic massage therapy originating from India. It's considered one of the most important self-care practices in Ayurveda and has been used for thousands of years to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The word "Abhyanga" itself translates to "oil massage" in Sanskrit.

Herbal potli massage offers a wide range of benefits, including muscle relaxation, pain relief, improved circulation, detoxification, stress reduction, and enhanced overall well-being. It is often used to address conditions such as muscle stiffness, joint pain, arthritis, sports injuries, and fatigue.

This wonderful treatment for tranquility of mind starts with a light head massage followed by the pouring of a continuous stream of lukewarm medicated oil on your forehead in a rhythmic manner. Shirodhara is a deeply relaxing and therapeutic Ayurvedic treatment, often combined with other massage therapies for more comprehensive wellness.

A perfect mind and body relaxation programme. It combines classic Ayurveda and shirodhara that helps your body to rejuvenate and mind to reconnect! An Ayurvedic de-stress program encompasses a range of holistic therapies and lifestyle practices aimed at reducing stress.

Precisely formulated with the most potent natural ingredients, a wide range is available to suit your personal needs. All facials include a deep cleansing, toning, relaxing massage and a soothing pack. Ayurvedic facials may include the application of herbal masks tailored to the individual's skin type.

Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy that involves the use of essential oils extracted from aromatic plants to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. While not originally a part of traditional Ayurvedic medicine, aromatherapy has been integrated into Ayurvedic practices to enhance therapeutic.

This is a technique in which light kneading massage is given from toe to forehead. This relaxes the body and relieves stress. It involves the manipulation of the body's soft tissues, primarily through the use of hands, forearms, or elbows, to promote relaxation, alleviate muscle tension, and improve circulation and lymphatic.

It is a strong pressure massage involving a lot of work on muscles. It is a essential massage for people who do a lot of physical work and exercises. It removes tightness and soreness in the muscles and recharges you. The therapist may use massage oil or lotion to reduce friction and facilitate deeper work.

A perfect answer for aching back, neck and shoulders. Squeezing, pressing and stretching movements releasing knots and aches in that part. The massage therapist focuses on the back, neck, and shoulders, as well as other related areas such as the upper arms and upper back.

Our Ayurvedic treatments and doctor consultation services are available at a nearby location, just a short walking distance from our accommodation.BAMS-Qualified · Free Consultation Included
Every guest at Om Setu Yogashala begins their Ayurveda retreat with a free, in-person consultation with Vaidya Mohit Bhatt — our resident BAMS-qualified Ayurvedic physician. He performs a detailed Nadi Pariksha (pulse diagnosis), identifies your unique Dosha imbalance (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), discusses your health concerns, and personally designs your treatment plan. No upselling, no guesswork — just authentic clinical Ayurveda the way it has been practised in India for centuries.
Vaidya Mohit specialises in Panchakarma Chikitsa (the classical five-action detoxification protocol), Marma Therapy, Nadi Pariksha, and Cupping Therapy. He has studied with renowned Ayurvedic practitioners across Kerala, Rishikesh, and Varanasi, and brings the authentic Kerala-style treatment tradition to every guest at our Tapovan retreat.
Because he is on-site every day, you can ask questions, adjust your plan, and follow up freely throughout your stay — something most retreats simply do not offer.
Panchakarma Chikitsa — the heart of authentic Ayurveda. Vaidya Mohit guides each guest through the classical five-stage detoxification protocol, adapted to your dosha and the duration of your retreat. The body is gently prepared with oil therapies (Snehana) and steam (Swedana) before the main eliminative treatments — restoring digestion, clearing accumulated toxins (Ama), and rebuilding tissue strength.
Marma Therapy. Marma points are the 107 vital energy centres of the body. Vaidya Mohit uses gentle, precise stimulation of these points to release energetic blockages, improve circulation, and bring deep nervous-system relaxation — particularly powerful for guests recovering from chronic stress, insomnia, or burnout.
Nadi Pariksha (Pulse Diagnosis). Before any treatment begins, Vaidya Mohit reads your pulse at three points on the wrist to assess the balance of Vata, Pitta and Kapha — the foundation of every Ayurvedic prescription. This is the same diagnostic tradition passed down for over 3,000 years.
Cupping Therapy. A traditional method to draw out toxins and improve circulation, especially useful for muscular pain, stiffness, and post-yoga recovery.
Alongside Vaidya Mohit, our female Ayurvedic therapist Arti assists with treatments for our female guests — ensuring comfort, privacy, and an authentic experience. All therapists are trained in the traditional Kerala style, with several years of hands-on experience in classical Ayurvedic massage protocols.

We've just returned from a phenomenal 10 day retreat with Om Setu in Tapovan, Rishikesh. Situated in the foothills of the Himalayas on the bendy bank of the river Ganges is the Om Setu Yogashala 🧘🏻♀️🧡 You’d think, that because of the stunning mountain back drop and mesmerising green flow of the sacred river just a stones throw from your room, that it’s all about the location. But its not just that - the amazing programme put together for my best friend and me was delivered by the loveliest human beings I’ve ever met, and it’s people that make your memories and experiences so special. All are funny, kind and welcoming and love to share their knowledge with you. If you go, (and you really should!!), say hello to my far away friends for me. 🥰But not to worry if you forget - I will return!✨ …Oh and just a heads up; it’s really quite windy in the mornings on the Ganges, so take a hoodie!!

I cannot speak highly enough of Om Setu Yogashala. We were so well looked after by Host and his team. The quality and professionalism of the teachers was outstanding. Arti is a fantastic yoga teacher and Ayurvedic practitioner. Bhuppi is an exceptional Pranayama and Meditation teacher who generously shares his knowledge and wisdom. All this on the banks of the river Ganges. Perfect location. Host has organised a wonderful schedule which includes many excursions and everyone is so giving of their time. Felt very well looked after. Really going to miss all people. It was quite sad to say goodbye.

You will have an amazing experience if you chose this retreat in Rishikesh. Host is one of the most genuine kind and caring people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He ensures that every day of your yoga retreat experience is wonderful, nothing is too much trouble, he is flexible and will adjust the timetable in any way you wish to ensure that every experience you hope for is achieved. He took such good care of us that by the time we left we felt a bond like we were family. Bhupi Ji is a remarkable teacher of meditation, pranayama and yoga / Hindu philosophy and a wonderful human being, we learned so much from him and he took equally good care of us along with our incredible excursions. The location of the accommodation is outstanding - you open your room door directly onto a terrace which is on the beach of the beautiful Ganga. Located at the edge of Tapovan this is a tranquil and beautiful spot. I cannot recommend this experience more highly.
